Trusting Your Intuition: Navigating Fear and Outside Influences

How do you validate your intuition, especially when interference arises?

Have you ever made a decision based on your intuition, only to second-guess yourself later? Trusting your inner guidance can be challenging, especially when fear or outside opinions cloud your judgment.

One of my clients, recently shared a story that perfectly illustrates this. He was looking for a heifer or young cow after the passing of one of his beloved animals. He found two on Craigslist, felt a good vibe from one, and decided to check them out in person. However, when he arrived, the cows didn’t quite meet his expectations.

Despite some doubts, he followed his gut and bought both. Back at the farm, new challenges arose: opinions from family, concerns about the cows fitting in with the herd, and whether the purchase was truly worth it. Fear of making the wrong decision crept in, but he reflected on his original instincts and realized they were guiding him toward what felt right at the time.

Tips for Trusting Your Intuition

1. Pause and Reflect: Before acting, take a moment to reflect on whether fear or external opinions are influencing your decision.
2. Connect to Your Inner Voice: Tune into the quiet, calm knowing within yourself—your intuition often feels steady, not rushed or panicked.
3. Acknowledge the Interference: Identify the source of interference, whether it’s fear, attachment, or outside advice, and separate it from your inner truth.
4. Validate Your Feelings: Trust that your first instinct is often your truest guidance, even if it doesn’t align with others’ expectations.
5. Let Go of Overthinking: Once you’ve made a decision, trust the process and focus on learning from the experience, rather than second-guessing yourself.

My client’s story reminds us that intuition isn’t always about perfection; it’s about trusting yourself and growing through the journey. Whether you’re buying cows, making big life choices, or navigating relationships, your intuition is a valuable guide—if you take the time to listen.
